I haven’t seen these before. A roselily - sitting strikingly tall as I entered the florist shop. It definitely caught my eye. I brought it home and studied the bloom. I loved the multiple layers of fringed petal edges these beauties had. This one in particular was not fully open, not yet but almost - felt too good not to freeze in time and giving it a sense of anticipation. I decided to do this in black and white to strip away everything except for what matters - form, texture and light. Printed using archival pigment ultrachrome inks on acid and lignin-free matte 190gsm paper. All prints are trimmed to image edge. Please let me know if you would like a white border.
